Rejlers supplies new control and monitoring system to SKB

Rejlers has been awarded a major contract for SKB, Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company. It includes project design, delivery and installation of a new control and monitoring system at SKB’s plant for short-lived radioactive waste in Forsmark. The assignment starts this summer and is expected to be complete by autumn 2018.

“We are very proud of having won this contract, which includes a complete new Siemens Simatic PCS 7 DCS system,” says Daniel Lind, Business Manager at Rejlers.

Rejlers has completed a number of assignments for SKB previously, and Daniel Lind emphasises that it is particularly pleasing to win a contract for which the client has been so precise and focused in its procurement work. SKB is working on Sweden’s largest environmental protection project, and Rejlers’ expertise in automation can play an effective part in a good overall solution.

Competitiveness is important for SKB, as was comparing the tenders received on an equal basis before the supplier was selected. It is also a question of finding a supplier who can live up to, or even surpass, expectations.

“We were looking for a supplier with extensive experience, a high delivery capacity and with whom we can create a long-term partnership,” comments Robert Lindh, who has commercial responsibility for the Scada project at SKB.

For SKB, it is also important that the supplier complies with SKB’s strategy. This involves finding a supplier that can deliver a reliable system that meets the requirements with the best overall economic solution for the entire technical life of the system.

“When we implement a new technical system here at SKB that will also support us in our operations, such partners are vital. We believe that Rejlers Sverige AB is just such a partner,” says Robert.
